Lady Liberty

Country

Inspiration

I wrote Lady Liberty for all the people who want to experience the love of a person they felt was out of reach. But when they get their chance to love someone so desperately, they cherish it. The song has double-meaning for those longing to be American.

[Verse]

I saw her in my wildest dreams a silhouette in the night

Her name whispered on ocean winds she burned my heart so bright

A place so far I had no wings just hope and broken oars

But I would row till the world collapsed to find her distant shores

[Chorus]

Oh Lady Liberty you smiled at me

You called my name

A love I thought I’d never touch now nothing feels the same

Against the waves

The storm

The doubt I made it through the roar

Now I’m here standing on your shore

You’re the one I adore

[Verse 2]

They told me she’s a fairy tale too good for men like me

But I held tight to my tattered dreams and sailed the endless sea

With nothing but a fire inside and scars I choose to keep

She saved a place within her heart for someone who would leap

[Chorus]

Oh Lady Liberty you smiled at me

You called my name

A love I thought I’d never touch now nothing feels the same

Against the waves

The storm

The doubt I made it through the roar

Now I’m here standing on your shore

You’re the one I adore

[Bridge]

She’s painted in the skyline her voice is every star

Her arms stretched wide to welcome those who reach out from afar

I laid my fears down at her feet

My past is swept away

For every night I’d dreamed of her I wake here every day

[Chorus]

Oh Lady Liberty you smiled at me

You called my name

A love I thought I’d never touch now nothing feels the same

Against the waves

The storm

The doubt I made it through the roar

Now I’m here standing on your shore

You’re the one I adore

You’re the one I adore
